My Dream and Whale's dream
As an artist, I think it is very important for us to find the inspiration from our traditional culture and bring them to the contemporary art. For this project, I attempt to use a story which created by Chuang Tzu, and it illustrate a Daoism concept. It is about the spirit live outside the world, without limitation of the position and time. In the world, there are many things limit our life, maybe friends, finance, education and so on, but in this Daoism concept, people’s spirit are want to acquire nothing to get anything. And it is like when we become a whale, whale is really big, and if it fly in the sky, travel to everywhere and anytime, and understand we are the world and world is us.
Ball in the City
Most of us usually follow the rules when we making art, my question is that who create this rules and why we have to follow them? If we don’t follow the rules and what we are making? My answer is that everything can be art, if we are not sure our concept is right or wrong, just destroy the old one and build ours.
After watch many projection mapping project, I am thinking about how the animation can be project on some unformal surface, and how they can interact with each other. In this project I want to create an installation reflect an abstract mountain shape and talk about four subject with my animation. First is how character of mountain（山）develop in Chinese Pictograph. Second is talking about a story of Chinese traditional story Mr. FooI Wants to Move the Mountain. Third is urbanization destroy the mountain and trees to build the city. Four is the Digitalization and virtual reality of the world. I will consider the installation as a stage, and my animation is an performance on the surface of it. Through this project I want to reflect in our culture how people thinking about the relationship between natural and human being, and how the idea of digitalization developing.
